John Henry Demps

  • Performed and promoted bluegrass and country music  with his family on WLAC in Nashville, TN in the 1950’s
  • Opened “John Henry’s Music Barn” in the 1970’s to encourage local musicians and offer them a place to hone their craft.
  • Performed for  fiddle conventions and contests all over the country as part of the Frazier Moss Band
  • Performed for the “Festival of American Folklife” in Washington, D.C. for the country’s bicentennial celebration in 1976
  • A video and audio recordings of John Henry Demps performing fiddle music is included in the collections of American Music and Folklore at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC
  • Known nationwide for selling and trading instruments with other musicians
